Making a Horror

Recently I uploaded a new video that I made for college.
Having now finished college, this latest video was the last one made as a part of my course. It was created as an instructional video for young filmmakers. However, me being me, I decided that instructions are boring, so I made it funny.
I mean, I at least intended for it to be funny, so I hope it is.
Anyway, it's aimed at people around the age of 19, so it aims to entertain as much as it does inform. So I'm hoping it did one or the other, if not both.

This was a fun video to make. Mostly because I got to run around the woods, do a practical gore effect and dress in drag and make the rest of the crew really uncomfortable.

Yeah, that last bit was weird. But, if you want to see what I'm on about, go watch the video. You'll easily find it in the collection of my work here on the site.

Getting back to why it was fun, however.
The crew were all very professional during the shoot and so we were all able to get our jobs done easily, allowing us to have a good laugh all the while.

Additionally, they all had very good input throughout the production. No one was afraid to ask for help, nor were they afraid to give their opinions on what they thought should be added, taken away or tweaked. I must say I'm very proud of how well they all worked.
During post, however, I did not have the easiest time. Typically, just my luck that the computers at college didn't want to work for me. Our lecturers did comment on how the tech is getting old and slow, but that didn't really settle my frustration.
One issue caused by something in the system - yes I'm being as vague as that because I don't understand computers - was that the audio messed up during one of the horror sequences. All throughout the edit the audio was fine. I was very precise when it came to mixing that scene, so hearing it mess up after being rendered and exported really got to me.

However, with it being the end of the college year and not having any energy left, I decided to take the approach of, "screw it!" Not my most mature thought, but still, I was tired and frustrated.
Anyway, it's done now and it's not the worst thing in the world. And, whilst it's not my favourite video that I've made, I do still enjoy it.
I hope you enjoy it too, so why not head on over to the collection and check it out? And while you're there, why not subscribe to the YouTube channel too? That way you never miss a video - regardless of how infrequently I make content.
