This was a college experiment. Each of us were given an unusual topic and were asked to research it and create a three-minute piece to explain the concept to others. Admittedly, I did go over the time limit quite substantially in this version, but in my defence, I do believe I made it funnier than the three-minute cut that I turned in for review.
This was a really fun one to make. I still had some knowledge of the subject matter from 3rd year psychology in high school, so research was easy. And I thought that the best way to convey Freud's threory was through "daddy issues", seeing as it is commonly understood in such a form.
Choosing to do a slightly darker approach to it seemed risky at first, but I reckon it turned out quite well. Considering the original idea, I decided to throw in a few more things that were decidedly risky. Such as lines like how the character of Charlotte's father is still winning a life-long game of hide and seek. As someone who was raised by a single parent, I decided that it was funny enough in a dark way to include.
In addition, whilst on set, we found a book that was certainly going to provoke viewer reactions upon viewing it. So, obviously, it was thought best to include it clearly within the first shot.
Overall, though, it was a great two-day shoot filled with hilarity for all the crew. I'm very grateful to everyone involved for being such a reliable and hard-working crew.
At times, our shenanigins seemed to get a bit much for our PA, Emma.
And our cameraman, Peter, felt the brunt of the shoot as he was burried beneath the equipment during our travels.
But, again, I'm very grateful to everyone involved. It was one of my best college experiences and a really fun shoot.
